We met in nurse anesthesia school in 2021. After days of studying, classmates would grab a beer and get to know each other. We realized we had a lot in common, such as outside hobbies, travel, music, and we both grew up playing soccer.

We did long-distance while in clinical for school, making the most of weekend trips to see each other. Two doctoral degrees later and the addition of Ziggy, we were ready to move to the Black Hills and begin our life together. We continue to travel, support each other in our careers, and still make the most of our weekends together.

Riding the bus to Hobbiton, a short video of Peter Jackson describing the magical place we are about to visit, cue LOTR music, and I start to tear up. A bit embarrassed, I look over at Daniel to see that his eyes are awfully watery as well. I love that we can share mountain biking, soccer, food, and nerdy things.
